TRIO: Chris Corsano – Mette Rasmussen – Louis Rastig / SOLO: Axel Dörner
NK, Elsen Strasse 52, 12059 Berlin
Berlin is loaded with interesting gigs this week. If you’re fit enough to start on Monday already I recommend this night at NK. Chris Corsano is a virtuoso drummer with an awesome list of collaborations with plenty of musicians I love – such as Sir Richard Bishop, Six Organs of Admittance and Thurston Moore – and some others I love less but are still quite prominent, such as a well-known lady from Iceland. The line up of this performance includes alto sax and piano + a trumpet solo show and it sounds like it will take a noisy free jazz direction.

Father Murphy (Flenser Records, Venice) + Lief Hall (Berlin)
WestGermany, Skalitzerstr. 133, 10999 Berlin
May 5th is probably the peak of the mess of good things of the week, quite unsual for a Tuesday night even in Berlin; I reckon I will pick Father Murphy’s liveset at WestGermany because I am too much a fan, because they usually come to Berlin only once a year and because Lief Hall also sounds like an interesting set. If you’re a fan as well and/or you haven’t seen them live already go for it. You can check some of their music here: fathermurphy.bandcamp.com. (In case you need alternative ideas for the evening I recommend you check what’s going in Loophole, Berghain Kantine and Acud)

MULTIVERSAL #54 w/ SEC_ / WJM / GABOLA / SCHICK
Altes Finanzamtm Schönstedtstraße 7, 12043 Berlin
An evening of solo projects presented by Multiversal: SEC_, who recently made a great duo performance with Dario Sanfilippo at Occulto Night 01/15, Roberta WJM of Jealousy Party (I have never heard her solo live and I am especially looking forward to it), Gabola and Schick. Expect a lot of self-built and modified analog and digital devices, mixers and turntables played as instruments and and and good noisy music.

emitter micro festival 2015 – a reduced festival of sound and more
Taborkirche / ausland / NK, Berlin
Very nice line up for the 3-day festival curated by Kris Limbach and taking place in 3 different venues. My personal highlights are Marta Zapparoli, Kasia Justka and Aspec(t), but the line up is rich and interesting as a whole, check the event page on FB or the emittermicro website for details and more links.

Odd Fantastic: I-F, Intergalactic Gary, David Vunk, Miles Whittaker, Christopher Rau, Juniper…
STATTBAD Berlin, Gerichtstr. 65, 13347 Berlin
I have spent a lot of time with Dutch electronic music as a kid and some of those records are still in my weekly – if not daily – playlist. I don’t mean gabber techno of course, but rather what sophisticated and nerdy synth artists released on labels such as Bunker and Clone. Moreover, I’ve discovered plenty of great old and new music thanks to the Den Haag based online radio that represents a sort of gathering point for that scene – renamed and renewed into Intergalactic FM a while ago, called Cybernetic Broadcasting System back in the days. Thanks to this unique independent station I went through early chicago house, italo disco, Italian movies soundtracks, obscure European new wave/industrial and more – all of that done with good timing, good taste and always keeping the distance from the mainstream and the temporary hypes and revivals.
